- To manage the Korean Codification System in conformity with the NATO Codification System(NCS) based on rules and regulations established in AC/135
- To identify and codify items of supply produced by Korean manufacturers and used by military services and NATO countries/sponsored non-NATO countries.
- To maintain a Total Item Record(TIR) that stores all data for each codified item of supply
- The Korean NCB is responsible for the Korean codification policy and the coordination of all codification activities for the armed services and other organisations.
- Organisationally it is part of the Defense Acquisition Program Administration. The NCB was arranged to be divided into two functional groups (Policy and Cataloguing)
The Republic of Korea currently has bilateral agreements for codification data exchange and services with the following countries

- The tool for codifying items of supply based on NATO Codification System rules is KDSIS (Korea defense Standard Information System) developed by KOR NCB in April 2013.
- This system is included in the integrated "Logistic Standard Management System"
